Summer isn´t over yet, and so´s the festival circus, and “fo sho” there are some gems to explore before we pack the tents away and the soil on our boots turn to snow.

For example Tauron Music Festival in Katowice/Poland.  In it´s 5 year and with a just killers – no fillers concept on ex coal mining site Tauron attracts top electro and experimental acts as well as a crowd of musical gourmets to come to this thriving region of Germanys friendly neighbour. So far Fever Ray, Flying Lotus, Jamie Lidell, Amon Tobi, DJ Krush und  Roots Manuva had found the way to Katowice, and this year is no exception: : Autechre, Gonjasufi, (our local heroes) Moderat, Pantha Du Prince,Prefuse 73, and a lot of excellent new acts to discover.

Enter the Void is Gaspar Noé´s new movie. The director of the tour de force film Irreversible also wrote this story about the siblings Oscar and Linda who take a walk on the wild side of Tokyo´s nightlife. Whoever saw Irreversible knows that one didn´t see the drastic 20 minute long rape scene coming, that turns the rest of the film into one violent opus about the human condition. So as little as the trailer of IR unveils about the horrors to come, as much the super aesthetic trailer of ETV holds back. But it is expected to be some exceptional 160 minutes. The film opens on August 26. Only for adults.

Drones get quite a bit of attention these days. The remotely controlled flying objects have the reputation of being a coward´s weapon. The Parrot Mini-Drone from AR Drones is the toy verion of a drone and perfect for annoying people. Like these golfers. And for some reason you get the feeling that it is excactly these type of guys that swing the iron with not a single worry on their mind, while their drones make some poor people duck and cover at the other end of the world. But: You reap what you sow.

Of course you already know that it´s happening, but there is no harm blowing the whistle 4 weeks prior to the second Berlin Festival on September 10/11. And boy/girl have we got a line-up waiting for us. If you have a good taste in music you could easily leave the Tempelhof grounds as one obese motherf***** from all the good music you can stuff in your ears on that weekend:

Berlin Festival

Today there is a cute little exhibition in Bar 23 on Lychener Strasse. From 7 – 11 pm the graphic arts collective Obhut (shelter) is showcasing latest pencil, silk screen and plush works. Whatever you like you can take away for reasonable money to nicen up your condo, therefor the motto is  ”AU REVOIR TRISTESSE BONJOUR FINESSE”.

Baambi Lounge, one of Berlin´s all time fav´feelgood events is prancing back on the party clearing, and teases you to join for one happy “rumspringa” at Voltairestrasse 5. Thumper up i´d say. Hands-On Remix-Remixern Keys ´n Krates, Ben Mono und Alex/Such a Sound will be your songbirds from 11 pm until the early mornin´.

Itchy Feet? Cold Water and good music could help. And you can have it both at the same time if you show up at Johannesburg/Bar 25 tonight for Tropico Disco to take a dip in the pools there. DJ Happyhappy won´t be there unfortunately, but then again Tamara Deike aka one half of Moustache Mamas will play and she´s a crowdpleaser. Plus she looks good in a bikini. So grab a disco-ish bathing ensemble and a funky towel and off you go.

From tomorrow on the Bread and Butter Fashion Trade Show will glam up the city. The ex airfield Tempelhof will be one big vanity fair until sunday. For a start check out Reality Studio´s Bicycle-Catwalk. The stylish label from Berlin has it´s models rollin´around the Mitte neighbourhood between 4 and 6pm. Sound´s great!

Hoover Boy, born a UK citizen of 13 years by the name of Hibiki Kono build this brilliant device for climbing up walls, using two 1400 watts vacuum cleaners. It took him 5 month. Might be small and somewhat slow steps for him know, but could be a great step for mankind. If a young inventer can come up with this, imagine what grown-ups can pull off. …….Crazy. If this was a movie, what would the sequel be called?
