When opinions differ …
The café Sankt Oberholz at Rosenthaler Platz
This place has some really distinct attributes that make it really easy to identify. Outside are black and white tablets that have some really „smart“ sayings written on it. Inside it’s rather the silver and white swivelling tablets that draw the attention. Especially upstairs, all the young people wih their macbooks rather resemble an army of hackers. But actually they are all only having a cup of coffee and simultaneously checking their facebook or just surfing the web. And sometimes they even write an email regarding work or something similar.
That’s what many people think about that place. There are many haters but also those people who really think it’s the coolest place to be and accordingly defend Sankt Oberholz. And since Holm Friebe and Sascha Lobo have published the book „Wir nennen es Arbeit“ (We call it working), you cannot really say what’s true and what’s just exaggeration. Maybe it’s this certain attitude of the people who go there or it’s just a prejudice. You never know, but you should check it out anyways. What does the Bildzeitung always say: Everyone should form an own opinion on something. However, the coffee and sandwiches are great.
Also very great is the website of the café. It’s rather a lost and found than anything else. So if you have ever lost something this might be an amusing way of regaining it.
