I reckon that the character of a summer is shown by its melodies. Just think of the last couple of years. The following list is supposed to undermine my thesis. I think if it comes down to comfortable sounds the following artists will most likely affect your summer quite positively!

1. HANS UNSTERN: Singer/Songwriter from Germany. His album Kratz Dich Raus was released in April. Songs like Paris are unmistakable, his music has something vanguard you cannot really describe.

2. CARIBOU: It’s dream pop from Canada. Swim has also been released in April. Shortly after that they gave a concert in Berghain. Everyone was just thrilled. There is no way it will be a summer without them. Amazing song: Odessa!

3. BOOKA SHADE: Once again, two Techno guys from Berlin. And, of course, they really know what they’re doing. The new album is called More! It’s nothing for the sun, rather something for the deep darkness of a big club. Commendation: Divine!

4. FOALS: Quintet from Great Britain. Their album Total Life Forever is really starting there where the previous one has ended. It’s playful, but not overloaded, like in This Orient. But once you are hearing Spanish Sahara you will recognize the melancholic part of it. It’s the shiver you only get from a spooky heat haze.

5. FLYING LOTUS: All-rounder from California. It’s everything you need to get your hips movin’ and your heartbeat go faster. Hip Hop, downbeat elements, but also New Rave, Drum ‘n’ Bass and other styles. It’s experimental but still very easy to listen to.

P.S.: The information are taken from Spex, Musikexpress, Intro, Pitchfork and many blogs. Of course I listened to all of them beforehand! You will get this for 4 weeks now. Every monday. Always great music.
