Somehow it takes much more effort than usually to get yourself into the right christmas mood …

Just about a week ago, I found myself sitting in the subway browsing my iPod for Christmas songs. In fact, I was hoping for a great song by Frank Sinatra, instead it was another rather exceptional song by Chris Rea - Driving home for Christmas. Also,  I think I do not have to give you more detail about how our masked friend from Berlin, Sido , interprets Christmas in his very own way. Just as ghastly are  this year’s sins by Lady GaGa .. And it also doesn’t really help that already last year Madame Rihanna just couldn’t build up that right Christmas mood. That’s why I do not feel any embarrassment when I introduce my very own list of songs that I stick to during Christmas time.  It may be a little square and chippy, but in the end we are speaking of good old Christmas:

Bing Crosby - It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas | Do ignore the video, please !!

Mel & Kim - Rocking around the Christmas tree | Unfortunately I was only able to find the interpretation of Alvin & The Chipmunks …

Chris Rea - Driving home for Christmas | To be honest, I never really wanted to know, what this guy looks like.

Dean Martin - Let it snow | Dean’s the man. His version is a lot better than the one by Vaughn Monroe, etc.

Queen - Thank god it’s Christmas | … Freddie is the greatest anyway

Band Aid - Do they know it’s Christmas | HERE you get everything just a little more up to date.

P.S.: Wham - Last Christmas | What would a Christmas compilation be without Wham?!

P.P.S.: This year, Butlers sells very nice X-mas compilations once again.  And in my opinion those 10€ are a better investment than buying “Rock Christmas” or others.
