Of course that means, you find everything of importance. The selection of the Walther König Buchhandlungen is also rather exclusive, only with the difference that they have, compared to bookstores like „Das Buch“ near Hackescher Markt, an enormous variety.

But that’s exactly how it should be, with this wide range of books out there about art, design, photography and architecture. And do not forget about all the volumes about illustration, reference books about sociology and philosophy and many other catalogues and indices. The best part of it is, though, that everything is presented very appealingly and well-arranged. If you ask me, that’s exactly the way a substantial bookstore of this kind should look like.

When Thomas Demand has a new exhibition in the Neue Nationalgalerie, you simply have to find the associated catalogue in a Walther König Buchhandlung. Now let me give you some examples why those bookstores are a must-see, besides their extraordinary selection: You can always enjoy the quietness and just forget everything, while reading for a few hours without being disturbed. But if you are really looking for assistance, there will most likely be a friendly employee who is doing his best to help you. All of that is true for most of the Walther König Buchhandlungen. In particular I’d like to recommend the one next to the Museumsinsel on Burgstraße 27.
